The name of the Salon is a direct link to my indigenous spiritual journey.
“Oxsun” is a unique spelling of the Orisha’s name and it’s personal because it links three cultures and languages: the Ebo of Nigeria, Portuguese from Brazil and a young indigenous Woman named Kim from Philly.
Youruba, Santaria and Lucumi become my introduction to healing and forgiveness on all levels over two decades ago. I also consulted with Elders to insure that starting my business was respectful and a correct representation of Oxsun.
Oshun is especially important to women in West African cultures. Those who want children and who may suffer from infertility usually call on Oshun for assistance, and she is associated with the concepts of femininity and the power of women. More widely, she is sought after in times of drought or severe poverty.
With the impact of the transatlantic slave trade and dispersion of Yoruba culture, Oshun is also an important figure outside Africa, where she is known by other names, such as Oxum in Brazil and Ochún in Cuba.
Oshun is generally depicted as the protector, saviour, or nurturer of humanity. Oshun has also been described as the maintainer of spiritual balance or mother of sweet things.

Meet The Founder: Kim Rollins

Kim Rollins is a Master Beauty Professional, Mother, Motivational Speaker, Transformation Coach, Life Alchemist, and Entrepreneur of many facets. With over 30 years of experience as a licensed cosmetologist in New Jersey and Pennsylvania, Kim has dedicated her life to empowering others through beauty, transformation, and entrepreneurship.
In 2000, she founded Oxsun Hair Salon, LLC, starting with just faith, five clients, and $900. What began as a small salon has grown into a dynamic brand. By 2015, Kim expanded her vision by becoming a certified life coach, equipping future entrepreneurs with the tools to succeed while building her own legacy. In 2020, she launched www.oxsunbeauty.com, an online platform providing beauty products, wellness resources, and virtual consultations.
Kim is also the founder of Nanna’s Lap, Inc., a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that trains multicultural families in effective haircare techniques. Through Nanna’s Lap, she educates parents and caregivers on how to maintain their children’s natural hair without the use of harsh chemicals—bridging gaps in culture, confidence, and care.
Her recently published workbook, S.T.A.R.E. – For Ambitious Entrepreneurs Ready to Transform Their Personal & Professional Ventures, reflects her passion for guiding others through meaningful change.
As a coach and life alchemist, Kim specializes in helping beauty professionals achieve both personal and professional transformation. She offers unique insights on navigating challenges, breaking cultural stereotypes, and building sustainable success.
